"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"
This sentence from the Tao Te Ching is probably the most famous being frequently cited. What for? Perhaps because-it encourages us to avoid procrastination (this tendency we have to postpone our next task ...). It encourages us instead to get to work without delay to act before problems arise, to anticipate instead of having to solve them. How? One thing at a time, one day at a time ... The great works began with a simple first step. A forest is from a seed planted in the ground, a cathedral is built starting with a foundation stone, and the most wonderful, in my opinion, a human being develops from the "miracle" of fertilization with microscopic meeting an egg and a sperm!
Tao philosophy is that anything is possible, here and now. This especially applies to problems that seem insurmountable at times. You get to a point where your problems are so overwhelming they involve a long period of suffering-because you "cherish what is difficult to achieve." Sometimes when you look back later with all these obstacles you have faced, you finally think it was a blessing in disguise.
Yet change its way of thinking, "new glasses" to get a new point of view allows you to play down what seemed insurmountable. Thus the cause of our failure often lies in our attitude fearful, tense, focused on the outcome, then it is to apply the principles of "wise does not cherish what is difficult" because it breaks it down into steps easier to solve.
Some suggestions to get there:
Learn to let go and forget about the final result. Ultimately, when we get where we wanted to go, we're only bring a new journey! The idea here is to appreciate each step that marks your journey keeping an open mind knowing that everything is possible ... one thing at a time, one day at a time ... and this applies to all areas of your professional and personal life.
Decide that you are perfectly capable of preventing problems before they occur in practice.
Be aware that prevention is better than cure avoid conflicts rather than having to manage them; take care of yourself and your health by ensuring her diet, practicing sports, relaxation, meditation, etc.
Practicing the Tao is here to become a master in the art of anticipating the moves! Specifically, today you can start by choosing a habit you'd like to get rid of because-you perceive as a weakness or even a source of addiction (smoking, alcohol, drugs). Today place a first step to transcend this bad habit, and not worry about tomorrow or the following days. You say for example, "Just today I do not smoke ..." Then note later in the day how you feel. Then the next day, and only the next day, decide if you want to continue this wise practice of Tao Te King, who himself was written one word at a time and this for twenty-five centuries!
So start now to get better, act, just do the first step ... and the rest will follow ...
