My trip made me see life differently
While each trip was rewarding, one that marked me the most is that I spent in Mauritania.
We were friends, cut off from the world, to do five hours of walking per day, through sand dunes, lava, rocks ... A week in a beautiful country with unique landscapes.
I often think back to that journey where no phone, no computer, watches, have infected us. We just had a liter of water per day per person for our daily grooming. This allowed us to realize that we live in a consumer society, parasitized by everything around us, which makes us forget the essential: contact with others.
For a week we lived to the rhythm of the sun. We met some great people, ate fresh produce purchased in the villages, drinking water from wells that we were on our way. There was no standard of hygiene, we do not take a shower every day, but ultimately we're not dead!
I'm not saying that I live every day like that, because I formatted like everyone else in our society. But it's just good to find himself. Getting together with nature, with the beauty it offers us every day, just what we find on our journey to a child's smile, a sunset, the silence of the night . I have never seen so many shooting stars in the Mauritanian desert.
I do not know if my travels changed my life, because I always find my returning daily. And we must have great courage to radically change life! But I know that if I had the courage to do so, I would go further. Far from the civilized society of developed countries that make us forget solidarity. I would go to enjoy life, nature. To find the human contact that we have today.
I often think back to that trip. I do not know if it has changed my life, but my outlook on life has changed. Sure!
